This calculator goes beyond Sun sign astrology — it uses real planetary synastry to map the connections between two complete birth charts.
- 1Venus-Mars aspects are the primary indicator of romantic attraction in synastry. When Person A's Venus aligns with Person B's Mars — or vice versa — the result is a powerful magnetic pull. Conjunctions and trines between Venus and Mars are weighted at 1.3× in our scoring system, reflecting their outsized influence on romantic attraction. Venus-Venus aspects reveal shared love languages, while Neptune-Venus contacts add idealism and romantic fantasy to the connection.
- 2The Moon governs emotional needs, instinctive reactions and what makes each person feel safe. Moon-Moon and Sun-Moon contacts between two charts are the most reliable indicators of emotional attunement. A Moon-Moon conjunction or trine in synastry suggests two people who understand each other's emotional rhythms almost intuitively — a quality that sustains a relationship through difficulty more reliably than surface-level attraction.

This weighting reflects astrological tradition — emotional and romantic dimensions carry the most weight in love compatibility. Scores above 82 represent genuinely rare alignment across multiple dimensions.
Is a lower score a bad sign?
Not necessarily. Some of the most enduring and transformative relationships come from challenging synastry configurations — squares and oppositions create tension, yes, but also depth, growth and passionate engagement. A "Beautifully Complex" or "Interesting Contrast" result often reflects a pairing with real alchemical potential, one that requires more conscious work but yields profound rewards for both people.
How is this different from a basic Sun sign compatibility?
Sun sign compatibility only compares two of the 10+ planets in each chart. Full synastry compares all 10 planets against all 10 in the other chart — 100 potential aspect connections. It captures Venus-Mars attraction, Moon-Moon emotional resonance, Mercury communication dynamics, Saturn long-term commitment indicators, and Pluto intensity — none of which appear in Sun sign comparisons.
